Sydney, 6 July 2010. Blake Dawson has appointed Simon Irvine as a partner in its Banking & Finance Practice in Sydney.

Simon brings a wealth of international and domestic project finance experience to Blake Dawson, having worked on a range of major project financing deals for the energy, resources and infrastructure sectors in Australia, London, Singapore and Hong Kong.
Since his arrival in Australia, he has been a partner at Clayton Utz, where he had lead roles on several significant projects, including advising the successful consortium on the Victorian Desalination Project, advising the Queensland Government with respect to debt financing aspects of the A$4.8 billion Airport Link Project and advising the RTA on refinancing of the M2 Motorway Project.

During his time in Asia, Simon practised extensively in the oil and gas sector and advised finance parties on the US$5 billion Tangguh LNG project in Indonesia, the US$4.6 billion CSPC-Nanhai Petrochemicals Project in China, the Oman LNG project, the Kelanitissa power project in Sri Lanka and the Meghnaghat power project in Bangladesh.

The addition of Simon to Blake Dawson's project finance team reinforces the firm's leading expertise in financing projects across the energy, resources and infrastructure industries.
